I am spending some time this year going back to base skills, so here is a pencil drawing I worked on over a couple of days.

This one-meter tall brachiating life-form hails from a planet with a large band of thick jungle bordering its equator.

Though it can eat some vegetable matter it is mainly predatory, and its bony sideways-opening mouth conceals hundreds of gripping teeth which hold prey while tearing jaws in its throat rip of huge chunks of flesh. Two smell organs flick from its lower snout and large pits in its face conceal infrared and visual sensors, which see well in the low light of the forest understory. Two orifices near the back of its neck allow it to breath without suffocating while it feeds.

Wow, your creature designs are so imaginative, and yet so believable. And your sketching skill are superb. I think I'll favorite this.
Great invention!

Über realistic! Did you do this with pencils or is it all digital? I'd kill for your painting skills.
Pencils first, then used a digital camera to get it to Photoshop. Didn't add much, just some specular and a color wash.

The way you render the skin on your creatures, subtly revealing the underlying muscles, it's always so awesome. Nice lighting with this, too. This is a great design, making something that swings through trees like this, but is so alien to the idea or form of a primate that it sets itself well apart.

If you always assume that Windows Update is going to decide to restart your computer while you're afk and erase all your documents, you'll never be disappointed!
If its of interest, I used a 3B pencil, sketched the shape I wanted then shaded the whole thing in with the pencil in a flat base. I then used an eraser to bring back highlights, and deepened the shadows. To smooth it I used paper kitchen towels and a smudge stick.

Some who live deserve death, and some how are dead deserve life. Can you give it to them?

Very cool design and concept, would be cool to bring it to life in Spore
Fantastic design, and the shading is gorgeous. I love the lighting and the detail, as well as the choice of color for the wash.
