Interestingly, I really love some of the discarded designs here, as much as the final version. Especially the ones where you can see the whole creature, for some reason I love the sheer size implied by them.
As a WIP, this is a work of art in its own right. The image acquires the sense of its own narrative... the way that, in the process of designing the final piece, the atmosphere, time of day and scenery changed along with it. It's like I'm looking at a storyboard for a film. Great work on this and the final piece
Quite amazing and breathtaking, I like how some of the resemblance of this mega-creature seems close to the underside of a manta-ray, shape of the mountain, and also bits from the hammer-head shark. It almost looks like a creature that terra-forms, as it seems to appear through a portal into another world.
Wow, this is so lovely! The final concept was definitely my favorite, although I liked panel 4 a lot too! Maybe I'm biased towards the final since I can see the final image. X,D Either way, gorgeous work~
Very cool insight into your work process, you never really settle for a specific idea until very close to the end. It's something I should pick for my own designs! Even the overall mood changes throughout your process! Very inspiring work mate!!
This is so inspiring and helpful. There is such an organic flow to your work that doesn't necessarily play homage to any particular creature but still exhibits plausibility, What informs your designs? (if you don't mind me asking)
I REALLY like this. I like to know that your ideas are so fluid. That you can put down something on paper* and get a direction and then right in the middle of things, scratch it all out and start over with a totally new direction. Looking at this was like watching you think. *grin*
