Do you have a color map or something for your skies, some sort of reference? The 3rd, 4th, 6th and 8th panels have really good skies.

Also, when u shade and you use the blues in the shadow parts, how much do you know how to use? And is the only reason why sometimes the underside of a shaded object is kinda orange is cause it's just reflected light from the ground? I don't know if any of that makes sense, I just wanted to know what kind of blue and how much you use for shades.

To be honest. A lot of these versions look better than the final version.

That can happen. In the end you end up making a choice and sometimes it can be brutal :P

Interestingly, I really love some of the discarded designs here, as much as the final version. Especially the ones where you can see the whole creature, for some reason I love the sheer size implied by them.

Might reuse some of them.

I love panels 5 and 10.

It's incredible how much the mood varies between all of these incarnations of the piece!

As a WIP, this is a work of art in its own right. The image acquires the sense of its own narrative... the way that, in the process of designing the final piece, the atmosphere, time of day and scenery changed along with it. It's like I'm looking at a storyboard for a film. Great work on this and the final piece :)

Quite amazing and breathtaking, I like how some of the resemblance of this mega-creature seems close to the underside of a manta-ray, shape of the mountain, and also bits from the hammer-head shark. It almost looks like a creature that terra-forms, as it seems to appear through a portal into another world.

it is a sort of animal.
Second Instar means just that, it's an being in its second instar of it's metamorphis of becoming its adult form.

So basically, this huge thing is just a baby. XD

So many iterations. I love the unusual designs. Such a convincing sense of scale too, that thing is massive.

Have you ever played the Panzer Dragoon series of games? They have similar weird imagery, which are equally as transporting as this.
