Good sir, I have a 'real' light tank design packing a 75mm coilgun capable of reaching hypervelocity speeds that can fire quite rapidly in addition to a missile pod, plasma-laser ADS, a light secondary plasma laser cannon, and active electro-reactive armor composite. All powered by a fusion reactor.
A 'MBT' would be 90 tons of 185mm death spewing monster.
True enough. Those spiked limbs are really only used to help with locomotion or to prop themselves up for a higher vantage point (once useful on the scrubby plains where they went through their early development phase). Manipulation is accomplished via a set of six tentacles at the front of the head, covered here by the protective helmet plate. They can be seen more clearly here:
They use tentacles, which are located at the front of the head, here covered by a protective piece, for tool use and general manipulation. The arms are used to help haul them over rough terrain or to prop themselves up to get a higher vantage point--particularly useful in the shrubby plains of their early history.
Ah, the perils of convergent evolution. I had designed an alien species of my own, the Cthon, back in the day, who had a very similar structure and (at least outward) physiology. I'll have to review your site and see what more I can find on the Kalgrost and see how similar or different they really are. Gotta love speculative xenobiology...
heh, just found all my old files on my species; aside from the outward 'serpent-like' body structure and tentacle-manipulators, they aren't that similar after all, after comparing them with what I had relocated and what I have found on your guys. Your strict hierarchy would just confuse and bewilder them, as they operate under an extreme 'majority rules' governmental system... I used to have a 'speculative xenology' website a long time ago, with several alien species detailed (compliments of some other people as well); are you aware of any sort of community or site like that currently around? You sound like you have quite a lot on your species beyond what you just have on your DA page.
Cool! If you ever put up some stuff about your aliens, let me know.
As for your question, I'm afraid I don't know of any xenobiology groups--not that are active or accessible. It's been some time since I've looked, though. And thank you for the compliment! There's a lot worked up on the galkgrokst, and I'm glad that sense of depth comes through here.
You got it. Visible above the barrel, on the front of the vehicle, and on the rear on one flank are some of the cameras used. Also, the extended stalk is topped with a high-resolution, multi-spectral imager.
