Greater Lightsail by Abiogenisis Greater Lightsail by Abiogenisis
This is an older one I found floating around my website, might be of interest to someone out there.

A creature based off a Dimetrodon, and pretty much my earliest attempt to use painting techniques instead of lineart.

It says that it lives on it's planet's tropical belt, perhaps it shares the same home world as your Birrin?

Actually when I designed this creature the birrin had about 20 legs! Alot has changed :)

Wow, interesting!

So this is one of your first 'good' artworks?

'good' meaning deemed good or advanced by you, not meaning it's not actually good :D

There would probably be some people who would buy prints of your work. Maybe you should make some available.

The defense mechanism remind me of how ants will farm aphids, except it is the nectar-maker here that is in charge, not the final consumer.

thats an awesome idea to make nectar for other animals and not like a foul tasting nectar that could use which is found here alot in animals

Very atmospheric setting, and strong use of color. Those... plants I take it... remind me of a ribcage. Spooky!

amazing, i love the facts you added, they are all so true but not in the sense that the creatures aren't in existence, but the traits you added are very real and i like how you mixed that.

Just because it's like Barlow's expadition doesn't make it any less of a master piece. Still, I must agree on the point of its Darwinian apperence.

I want a pet Greater Lightsail now... I would ride on its back and name it Phillip. All of my friends could name its 'army'. Not sure where I would get enough nectar for it though...

very nice ... love the symbiotic connection...

you should have a follow up.. it would be interesting to see what your view is of a civilisation based on this relationship. What would it be like?. which one of them would be sentient? or what if both were sentient..

I think if the defenders were sentient then the deffendee would just be a "cow" not interesting..

Looking forward to the follow up !! hehe .. no pressure...
